Education

Distance Learning

Education is one of the 4 pillars of Chetana Foundation’s core values. Chetana Foundation has supported several economically disadvantaged school and college students by providing school supplies, books, computers, and also helped with their scholarship needs.
When the pandemic caused the schools to shut down in Spring ‘2020, Chetana Foundation launched an online e-learning platform to connect tutors with students. Youth aged 14+ helped tutor students aged 6+. This program is being offered to elementary and middle school students in the US and is taught by our high school youth volunteers. During the school year this program focuses on homework help and additional academic guidance in Math, English, Science & Programming. During the 2020 summer break, several other classes including programming, arts & crafts, yoga, shloka, etc.. were offered. Till date we have over 250+ students and over 100 tutors signed up.

These classes are offered for a nominal donation/fee which then is used towards providing educational needs to the economically disadvantaged students. The money raised so far has helped provide 20,000+ notebooks, school supplies etc.. to underprivileged school students, The DL Program is currently ongoing and is a year-round activity. School supplies & Essential Supplies

School Supplies – Providing School Supplies initiative was started in 2019 to help and support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Chetana foundation conducts School Supply Drives in which both youth and adults participate. This is held in late summer/fall before school begins. Chetana also raises funds for providing school supplies through various other fundraisers and donor support. In the last 2 years, we have donated 20,000 spiral notebooks, 50 backpacks, essential school supplies and gift cards to the economically disadvantaged students in the Beaverton School District.

Essential Supplies

Chetana youth volunteers partnered with local FTC teams to conduct an essentials supply drive to help provide relief to families affected by COVID-19. The youth volunteers advertised in social media, to friends & families and raised enough essentials supply to support 72 families from Neighborhood House, a local community in Portland.
