Chetana Foundation Supports Youth Leadership
Chetana Foundation is a Certifying Organization (CO) for administering PVSA to volunteers.
Volunteering for Education, Health, Environmental Stewardship, Economic Opportunity, Civic & Community and Arts & Culture
The Presidential Volunteer Service Award is a national honor recognizing sustained service. Chetana Foundation is an official certifying organization for this program. Recipients can receive an official lapel pin, personalized certificate of achievement, and a congratulatory letter from the president. Gold, silver and bronze awards are based on the number of documented volunteer hours served over 12 consecutive months.
As a Certifying Organization, we will identify eligible recipients, verify their service hours, and distribute the AWARD to outstanding volunteers. We invite you to apply for this AWARD, If you meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the table below, by contacting chetanapdx@gmail.com.
Given your ongoing service activities, many of you may already meet the requirements to receive the AWARD. To qualify, volunteers simply submit a record of their service hours to Chetana Foundation, and we verify the service and distribute the AWARD.
For those volunteers who haven’t accumulated enough hours of service to be eligible for the AWARD, we encourage you to contact us at chetanapdx@gmail.com to sign up for additional volunteer projects available through our organization.We have ongoing service projects as well as one-time community projects like OFB, Sack lunch packing, Homeless Cooking, Adopt A road, Food Drive, Fundraisers, Mothers day even, Fathers day event and Winter Cloth Drive. You can participate in these service projects by yourself, with family members, neighbors, or colleagues from work.
To be eligible to receive the PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD, Applicants service hours must be confirmed by a registered Certifying Organization.
Volunteer Eligibility
- United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e., green card holder)
- Must be at least five years old
- Completes eligible service within a 12-month period (for annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards) and over a lifetime (for Lifetime Achievement Awards)
Eligible Service:
- Unpaid acts of volunteer service benefitting others
- Service through National service programs that provide a stipend (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) may count towards the Lifetime Achievement Award*, but not for the annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards)
- Travel stipends, transit/parking passes, membership passes, expense reimbursements, and other nominal volunteer support do not impact service eligibility
Eligible Service does not include:
- Donating funds
- Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
- Religious instruction
- Conducting worship service
- Proselytizing
- Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
- Serving only family members
